The New Generation of Stories
Continuing the Lineage of Light
The Vision
We are gathering stories for the next edition of American Buddha. Whether you studied with Rama in the 80s or found his teachings yesterday, your stories spread the Light. This new collection will bring together voices from across the generations—long-time students and those who have discovered Rama's work more recently.
Rama's Light lives through your connection and is shared through your stories.
Share Your Story
We welcome stories of all kinds — large and small, serious and lighthearted. If you're unsure where to begin, here are a few prompts to inspire you:
- The first time you met Rama or experienced his teachings
- Moments with Rama that changed how you live, work, or relate to others
- Trips with Rama to power spots, seminars, or meditation events
- Funny or unexpected moments with Rama
- Lessons from Rama that stayed with you
- How Rama's teachings have shaped your career or life
- Dreams with Rama
There is no required format or length — share what feels honest and meaningful to you.

When we write our stories with Rama, we create a bridge between those moments of power and our everyday lives, allowing the Light to infiltrate our attention and awareness day to day.
When we share our experiences with one another, that Light extends further beyond ourselves to inspire and uplift the whole Network of Enlightenment. In this way, the connection doesn't end with a single moment or person, it keeps moving throughout the entire community, strengthening our tribe.
Below are real accounts from people who were uplifted by stories shared here.
“Reading someone else's story from the 80s, I thought, "That's me." It gave me chills. We never met, but we shared the same moments with Rama.”
“I never met Rama in the physical, so reading stories from American Buddha has connected me to so many wonderful sides of Rama that I had no idea about -- his hilarity, his intensity, his immense compassion. Thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who shared such precious moments.”
“I found myself back in those rooms, those retreats, just by reading what another student wrote. It was like being there again together.”
“Seeing the same patterns and moments across decades (different faces, same Light) made me understand why we bother to write our stories down. It matters. You never know who's going to read your story and be moved or inspired by it.”
“I felt so uplifted knowing that people I'll never meet are carrying their connection with Rama forward. Their stories inspired me to share mine.”
“There's something about reading another student's words and recognizing yourself. You're not alone in what you experienced. That recognition is its own kind of teaching. A true Community of Light is something this world could more of.”
